EBRPAE ENDORSES SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATES
The professional educators association for teachers and education support professionals in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.
Early in February of 2010, EBRPAE and EBRFT joined forces to form a joint screening
and recommendation committee to interview candidates for the 2010 EBRPSS School
Board Races.  After a long and extensive screening and recommendation process the
joint screening and recommendation committee recommended eight candidates from a
total of eleven (11) school board districts for endorsement by the EBRPAE board of
directors.  The joint screening and recommendation reviewed questionnaires and
interviewed each qualifying candidate to determine recommendations.  The joint
screening and recommendation committee focused on candidates’ positions on issues
including charter schools, vouchers for private and religious school tuition, the use of
student test scores to evaluate teachers and the privatization of school services.  “Our
endorsed candidates are dedicated public servants with a wide variety of work,
community and education experiences,” said EBRPAE President Donna Sedevie.  “They
recognize the many strengths and challenges facing our school system during the next
school board term and they are committed to sustaining and advancing public education
in East Baton Rouge Parish.”  President Sedevie encourages all EBRPAE members to be
actively involved in campaigns on behalf of the endorsed candidates.
